Be the Change, National Day of Service
San Francisco
Saturday, October 4

Join the Columbia Alumni Team!
Be the Change is an annual national day of service to inspire and foster civic engagement through volunteerism and community service. Every year, thousands of participants nationwide collectively contribute thousands of hours of community service in the spirit of Gandhi's most famous quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Be the Change is being held on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2008. The theme is Solidarity in Service, and it is all about building coalitions, deepening relationships and bringing solidarity among people of different backgrounds. The Northern California Columbia Alumni Club is getting involved and hopes that you all can make it out to be part of the team!

There will be several service projects all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Service projects include working with Habitat for Humanity, working on environmental restoration projects, working with children at local hospitals, serving food to the homeless and a number of other projects. When you register, you can choose if you would like a project in the city or the South Bay. You will be notified with the details of your project shortly before Oct 4. The kick-off event (with breakfast, a keynote speaker, etc) will take place in San Francisco (venue TBD) at around 9:30 am on Oct 4. From there, groups will head off to their projects. More details will be sent to those who registered once everything is finalized.
