Twilight Kayaking in the Oakland Estuary with Robert Kidd, CC’70
Jack London Aquatic Center, Oakland

An extraordinary way to end your work-week! An opportunity to see the East Bay from -- literally -- sea level. Join Robert Kidd (CC '70) at the Jack London Aquatic Center (JLAC) at 5:00pm. The JLAC will provide all equipment and instruction; Robert will provide the inspiration.

We will depart the Jack London Aquatic Center at about 5:30 pm and will paddle up the Oakland-Alameda Estuary, into Embarcadero Cove, past the still-visible hulks of the famed Alaska Packers sailing fleet, around Government Island, past the U.S. Coast Guard cutters, and back to the JLAC, returning before 7:30 PM.

Afterwards, join Robert for a no-host dinner and drinks at a nearby restaurant.

This program is for adults and young adults 16 years and older, accompanied by an adult. This event is limited to 16 paddlers.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.




When:
Launch at 5:30 PM, returning by 7:30 PM
No host dinner thereafter.

Where:
Jack London Aquatic Center, located in Oakland's Estuary Park
On the Embarcadero, between Oak St. and 5th Ave., about one mile south of Jack London Square (but not in Jack London Square.
A map is available at http://www.jlac.org. Caution: do not rely on a Yahoo or Mapquest maps, which will place you somewhere in the middle of West Oakland.

Cost:
RSVP by mailing your check ($25 per person, payable to "JLAC"), participant names and contact information to: Robert Kidd, 825 Washington St., Ste. 200, Oakland CA 94607.

No experience necessary: the JLAC will provide instruction, coaching, guidance, kayaks, paddles, equipment, personal flotation devices, everything you need. Wear light clothing; bring a non-cotton top, hat, sunglasses. Bring towel and extra clothes to change into. For more information, contact Robert Kidd CC'70 at .
